If you are deciding what to do on your spring holiday, why not climb a volcano? Here are five volcanoes that you should consider climbing while on your spring holiday.
5. Mount Teide in Tenerife
Climb up the highest volcano in Europe. Mount Teide stands at a great 3,718m high. There is an annual festival that takes place in Spring, The Tenerife Walking Festival! Anyone can take part in the event. The hike should take around 6 hours to complete and once at the top you will be able to see all of Tenerife and even some of the neighbouring islands.
4. Kilauea in Hawaii
The smallest volcano on the list standing at 120m does not take away the excitement that the volcano offers. Walk along the rocky terrain of Kilauea and see the spectacular lava flows, the hike can take as long as you can handle and is available to anyone who wishes to see the magnificent volcano.
3. Mount Vesuvius in Italy
Visit the famous volcano which made Pompeii a popular tourist destination, Mount Vesuvius. The hike takes around 50 minutes to complete, you can take a guide or tackle the volcano by yourself. Mount Vesuvius is perfect to visit in Spring as you marvel all that you can see of Italy from the top of the volcano. Mount Vesuvius is an active volcano so it is advised that you check with its current status before travelling.
2. Mount Bromo in Indonesia
Standing at 2,393m, Mount Bromo is one of the world’s active volcanoes. The hike to top of the volcano will take about 2 hours but is suitable for all ages and abilities. It is advised to hike the volcano with a guide for the quickest and safest routes. Standing at the top in Spring you will be able to see Indonesia’s nature in full and marvel at its beauty. It is advised that you check with Mount Bromo’s current status before travelling.
1. Mount Agung in Bali
The hardest volcano to hike on this list, Mount Agung is a real challenge for hikers. It will take approximately 4 hours to reach the top of Mount Agung, you will need a torch as the trek can be considerably dark. You will see a fair amount of monkeys on your journey which makes this trek a delight. Spring is the best time to tackle the volcano as the trek will be at its easiest and the views will be outstanding.
