The Northern Lights have been on everyone’s bucket list for a while, having been viewed more times than any other travel experience. Caused by high levels of solar activity, these spectacular visuals are available year round, as long as the right weather conditions are there!
Studies state that Iceland, Scandinavia, and northern parts of Canada are among the best destinations to see the Aurora Borealis; however, stargazers have been able to see the Lights as far south as British shores. Just a couple of weeks ago, Scotland’s capital city of Edinburgh witnessed a stunning display, with the city being bathed in green light. Seeing the Northern Lights in the UK is not a regular occurrence, though, and it is advised that you head further north to see these truly spectacular displays.
