St Vincent is an island that is situated on the Eastern border of the Caribbean Sea. St Vincent is linked to Britain and France in history, with most of the islands influences coming from them two places. The capital is Kingstown which is also the island's biggest and most used port, the capital inhabits most of the population making it the largest city on the island.

St Vincent is located west of Barbados, south of St Lucia and north of Granada. The island of St Vincent is around 16 miles long and is volcanic. Most of the island is very rocky with very little flat land. St Vincent has a tropical climate. The summer periods usually suffer from rainfalls but still have a warm temperate, the winters are mostly dry but have a much cooler temperature. Temperatures can be as high as 28°C (82°F) or as low as 25°C (77°F).

You must have a full valid UK driving license before you can drive on St Vincent and the Grenadines. Car hire companies will arrange a driving license specific for St Vincent and the Grenadines which is a requirement. You must drive on the left. Roads are somewhat poor with many potholes and can be unlit after dark.

Crime is not common on St Vincent and the Grenadines but there have been rare cases of reported violent crime. Though these are very rare, care should be taken. Try to avoid travelling alone, especially at night. Avoid large crowds as best as you can.

If you have a British passport then you will not require a visa to enter St Vincent and the Grenadines. When you arrive, you will be told a specific time in which you will be able to stay. You can stay for longer but you will need to apply with the local authorities.

Your passport will need to be valid for the period of your trip and 6 months after your exit date.

It is advised to visit your health professional prior to travel. Dengue fever has been reported throughout St Vincent and the Grenadines, Chikungunya virus cases are also being reported, you can deal with these by avoiding mosquito bites as best as you can. St Vincent can deal with most medical emergencies but this can be expensive, it is advised to get good travel and medical insurance prior to travelling. If you require medical assistance, dial 911 and ask for an ambulance.

Currently, the FCDO have not advised to avoid travelling to St Vincent and the Grenadines with most visits being trouble-free. There is a low threat from terrorism within St Vincent and the Grenadines.
