Hurricane Otto Predicted to Hit Land on Thanksgiving

Hurricane Otto is predicted to hit land on the day of Thanksgiving (Thursday).

It is on track to hitting Costa Rica, and has bought severe weather conditions to surrounding countries including Panama and Nicaragua.

The hurricane had gained strength as it stormed its way across the south-western Caribbean, but the National Hurricane Centre Atlantic, stated this morning, that an air force plane has reported Otto to be “a little weaker.” Newly released information predicts Otto is to “restrengthen.”

It is the 7th hurricane of the season in the Atlantic this year.

Although it is nearing the end of hurricane season in the Caribbean, Otto is predicted to hit land in Costa Rica on Thursday, making it the first hurricane to hit the country in over 150 years (1851).

As heavy rain and strong wind continues to be forecast to batter Panama, the treacherous weather conditions have already caused 4 deaths.

Updating the travel advice issued to Costa Rica, Panama, and Nicaragua, the FCDO advised: “Local warnings and watches are in place for Hurricane Otto, which is forecast to bring hazardous sea and weather conditions to parts of the country.

“You should monitor the progress of this tropical cyclone on the website of the US National Hurricane Centre, and follow the advice of local authorities, including any evacuation orders.”
