South Africa and Swaziland are bracing themselves as they await Tropical Cyclone Dineo.
The tropical cyclone, which was yesterday upgraded from storm status, is currently rapidly heading towards South Africa, after land falling on the coast of Mozambique.
Predicted to affect parts of the East Coast of South Africa, including KwaZulu-Natal, Dineo is forecast to deliver both hazardous sea and weather conditions, including strong wind gusts and heavy rainfall.
Parts of Swaziland including Lomahasha, Matsamo and Big Bend are also forecast to be largely affected.
The cyclone moved further inland overnight, pushing in a westerly direction.
The FCDO updated their travel advice to warn travellers who will be travelling to or are currently in the affected areas: “Tropical Cyclone Dineo is forecast to bring hazardous sea and weather conditions to parts of KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga, and Limpopo (including Kruger National Park) from around 16 February 2017.
“You should monitor local and social media for updates and the website of Weather SA for further information.”
Some reports are now suggesting that Dineo has degraded back to a tropical storm, and even a tropical depression.
