Pre-existing medical conditions can make it difficult to get a travel insurance policy. At Direct Travel Insurance, we're able to provide cover for thousands of medical conditions, both historical and current , including:

If you are currently prescribed medication or have regular checkups or treatment, don't worry, we can still cover most conditions. Please note that additional premiums may be required, dependent on the severity of your condition. To find out if we can cover your pre-existing medical condition, proceed through the quote process - you'll be able to look up your condition using our medical screening. If you can't find your condition or you're not sure what to declare, give us a call on 0330 880 3600.

What happens if I don't declare a pre-existing medical condition?

If you do not declare a pre-existing medical condition, or other condition which falls within the medical declaration, you will not be covered to make a claim under any section of your policy. To make sure that you are appropriately covered and can make a claim if needs be, please make sure you are completing the medical section honestly and accurately for each traveller on the policy. If you have any queries, or need clarification on anything, please call out customer contact team on 0330 880 3601.

It's important to know:

  1. If you have a medical condition, please make sure you disclose it when buying your policy. Direct Travel Insurance will not provide cover for undeclared medical conditions.
  2. You must be 18 years old or over to purchase a policy.
  3. We are unable to provide cover for countries where the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO) have advised against all, or all but essential, travel. Please visit the FCDO Foreign Travel Advice page to check the latest warnings. Alternatively, you can call them on 0207 008 5000.
  4. This product is available for UK residents only.
  5. Upper age limits may apply.
  6. The 15% online discount will not apply to any optional, additional cover.
