    The Ski Resort

Kitzbuhel is a large, animated town, set at a junction of broad, pretty valleys. Its extensive slopes offer a very attractive mixture of entirely open runs higher up and patchy forest lower down. Most face north-east or north-west.

    The Ski Slopes

The slopes can be divided into several identifiable areas, most of them linked. A gondola from the edge of the town goes up to the Hahnenkamm, the start of the main area of slopes. The problem is that Kitzbuhel's slopes have one of the lowest average heights in the Alps. To make matters worse, the Horn is also sunny. Even in an exceptionally good snow year some reporters complain of worn patches, ice and slush on the lower slopes. We have had reports of queue-free weeks, and bearable queues at half-term, so the two major new chairs in the resort have solved the main problem on the mountain.

    Apres Ski

The many attractive mountain restaurants are a highlight here. The beautiful walled, medieval centre of Kitzbuhel with quaint church, cobbled streets and attractively painted buildings is traffic-free and a compelling place to say. Many visitors love the sophisticated, towny ambience and swanky shops and cafes. There is a wide range of restaurants to suit all pockets, including pizzerias and fast-food outlets. Nightlife is one of Kitzbuhel's great selling points - there's something for all tastes, from throbbing bars full of teenagers to quiet places, nice cafes and smart spots for the fur-coat flaunting.

We'd like to wish you an enjoyable holiday in the snow and please don't hesitate to get in touch with us if you have any queries regarding your insurance cover.
