EuroStar strikes called off
Eurostar workers have cancelled their plans to strike over the bank holiday weekend. The workers were supposed to take striking action across a 7-day period, starting from Friday 12th August to today, as well as the bank holiday weekend at the end of the month.
The striking action was called for over unsocial hours and work schedules.
The train company confirmed that the trains would resume back to normal service, however there would be some changes to its timetable - four services were cancelled yesterday (Sunday 14th), and 2 will be cancelled today (Monday 15th).
Early morning trains 7:55am and 8:43am did not run from Paris to London this morning. The services website offered to accommodate all who were affected by these cancellations. Affected passengers were offered the option to either exchange their ticket for another train on that day, or a different day.
Eurostar said: “Following a meeting with the RMT and TSSA, we are pleased to hear that both unions have agreed to call of strike action plans for this weekend and the bank holiday period.
“Our focus continues to be on providing a good service for our customers. We will continue to operate our revised timetable this weekend, which allows all passenger booked to travel to do so.
“We will operate a normal timetable over the bank holiday period.”
